history

Opole was first mentioned in history on March 19, 1301. In 1384, a church building was first mentioned in the Stader Copiar .

In 1753 there were 105 fireplaces .

There are essentially two roads in north-south direction through the row settlement of Opole. Of these, the Opole road is now much more densely populated than the Westerweg . However, since the church is located on him, it can be concluded that this is the older part of the settlement.

Incorporations

On June 1, 1965, the communities of Cadenberge , Wingst and Oppeln merged to form the Am Dobrock community. The municipality had its administrative seat in Cadenberge. The municipalities of Bülkau and Oberndorf joined the joint municipality with effect from January 1, 1970. The combined community of Am Dobrock reached its final size with effect from January 1, 1972, when the Neuhaus (Oste) and the communities of Belum and Geversdorf decided to join.

In the course of the regional reform in Lower Saxony , which took place on July 1, 1972, the municipality of Opole was incorporated into the municipality of Wingst and the municipality of Kehdingbruch into the municipality of Belum. The seat of the joint municipality administration was the town hall on the market square in Cadenberge, which was moved into in 1979. In addition, there were administrative offices in all member communities.

On November 1, 2016, the Samtgemeinde Am Dobrock merged with the Samtgemeinde Land Hadeln to form a new Samtgemeinde Land Hadeln based in Otterndorf.

coat of arms

The then municipal council of Opole decided on July 2nd, 1960 to introduce a municipal coat of arms. However, because the name Opole could not be interpreted precisely, it was not easy to choose a symbol for the coat of arms. Since in Opole, according to a report from 1718, mainly oats were grown, the district archive director Lenz advised the municipality to include oat ears in the coat of arms. The design for this was provided by the heraldist and coat of arms painter Albert de Badrihaye , who designed around 80 coats of arms in the Cuxhaven district. After the approval of the Lower Saxony Minister of the Interior , the coat of arms was adopted on July 1, 1961 by the Opole municipal council.
