The Ora Township is about 30 kilometers east of the Mississippi , which forms the border with Missouri . The mouth of the Ohio at the intersection of the states of Illinois, Missouri and Kentucky is around 120 km south.

The township is located in the north of Jackson County and borders north on Perry County . Within Jackson County, Ora Township is bordered by Vergennes Township in the east, Somerset Township in the southeast , Levan Township in the south, Kinkaid Township in the southwest and Bradley Township in the west .
