The Levan Township is one of 16 townships in Jackson County in the southwest of the US -amerikanischen state of Illinois . In 2010 the Levan Township had 850 inhabitants.

The Levan Township is about 20 km east of the Mississippi , which forms the border with Missouri . The mouth of the Ohio at the intersection of the states of Illinois, Missouri and Kentucky is about 110 km south.
The Levan Township is located at 37 ° 49 ' N , 89 ° 26' W and extends over 95.1 km², which is spread over 86.7 km² of land and 8.4 km² of water. The Kinkaid Lake , a reservoir created by damming the surrounding streams, is located in the southern center of the township.
The Levan Township is located in the northwestern center of Jackson County and borders in the north with the Ora Township , in the northeast with the Vergennes Township , in the east with the Somerset Township , in the southeast with the Murphysboro Township , in the south with the Sand Ridge Township , in the southwest to Fountain Bluff Township , to the west to Kinkaid Township and to the northwest to Bradley Township .
