The Pomona Township is the largest area of 16 townships in Jackson County in the southwest of the US -amerikanischen state of Illinois . In 2010 the Pomona Township had 802 inhabitants.

The Pomona Township is about two kilometers east of the Mississippi , which forms the border with Missouri . The mouth of the Ohio at the intersection of the states of Illinois, Missouri and Kentucky is around 90 km south.
The Pomona Township is located at 37 ° 39 ' N , 89 ° 21' W and extends over 136.76 km², which is spread over 129.52 km² of land and 7.24 km² of water. The township is bounded to the west by the Big Muddy River , a left tributary of the Mississippi. In the east of the township lies Cedar Lake , a reservoir created by damming Cedar Creek .
The Pomona Township is located in the south of Jackson County and borders on Union County to the south . Within Jackson County, Pomona Township is bordered to the west by the Big Muddy River on the Grand Tower Township , in the northwest on the Sand Ridge Township , in the north on the Murphysboro Township , in the northeast on the Carbondale Township and in the east on the Makanda Township .
