The Ordem da Guerrilha ( German order of the guerrilla ) is an order of East Timor .

background

The Ordem da Guerrilha is awarded to veterans of the national struggle for freedom against the Indonesian occupation of East Timor (1975-1999) who have been involved in the struggle for eight or more years. This applies to both the military and the military cadres of the supply bases. The order was created together with other awards for veterans with the law 3/2006 "Estatuto dos Combatentes da Libertação Nacional" ( German statute of fighters of national liberation ).

The medal is awarded in three grades, which are based on the rank of the person distinguished in the hierarchy of resistance. The state president is responsible for classifying the individual persons . The presidential decree 51/2006 serves as a specification.

In addition, the order is graded according to the time of participation in the freedom struggle:

more than eight and less than 15 years
more than 15 and less than 20 years
more than 20 and less than 24 years
more than 24 years

The order shows the coat of arms of FALINTIL on the obverse and bears the Portuguese inscription "Resistir é vencer" ( German to resist and win ) on the reverse .
