Orhan Onar

Orhan Onar (born March 1, 1923 in Ankara , † October 26, 2009 ) was a Turkish lawyer and from 1986 to 1988 President of the Turkish Constitutional Court .

career

After Onar attended Galatasaray High School, he studied law and graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Law in 1947 . He was appointed to Ankara as a deputy public prosecutor in 1954 . In 1956 he was sent to France by the Turkish Ministry of Justice and worked in Paris for a year . On August 16, 1960 he was appointed Deputy Public Prosecutor at the Court of Cassation of Turkey and on August 18, 1962, he was transferred to the Constitutional Court , where he worked as a rapporteur. In 1973 he was appointed a member of the State Council and in 1980 a full member of the Constitutional Court. On July 28, 1986, he was elected President of the Constitutional Court and served until March 1, 1988.
