Hülya Tülay Tuğcu (born June 12, 1942 in Ankara ) is a Turkish lawyer who was President of the Turkish Constitutional Court from 2005 to 2007 .

career

Tülay Tuğcu studied at the Law Faculty of Ankara University . She was appointed President of the Constitutional Court on July 25, 2005. She is the first woman to take this office.

As a constitutional judge, she has voted since 1999, among other things, for the ban on the Fazilet Partisi and the political bans against two members of the FP. She was also a member of a commission that upheld the ban on admitting graduates from Imam Hatip Schools to police academies.

It also voted for the ban on HADEP and the political bans on 46 of its members.

The MHP's lawsuit against the abolition of the death penalty and against the authorization of native language publications in the course of harmonization with the European Union found their support. The Constitutional Court nevertheless decided by a majority against the lawsuit and paved the way for the accession negotiations with the EU.

She retired on June 12, 2007. Tuğcu is married and has two children. Your husband works as a lawyer.
