Oswald Graham Noel Turnbull (born December 20, 1890 in Highgate , † December 17, 1970 in Whitby ) was a British tennis player .
Career
Turnbull took part in the 1920 Olympic Games in Antwerp , where he won the gold medal in the doubles competition together with Max Woosnam . In the final they defeated the Japanese Kashio Seiichirō and Kumagai Ichiya in four sets with 6: 2, 5: 7, 7: 5, 7: 5. In the singles Turnbull was eliminated in the semifinals and did not play for third place against Charles Winslow , so that he was fourth in the end. In mixed doubles, he competed with Winifred McNair , but they lost their opening game.
Between 1919 and 1926 Turnbull played six games for the British Davis Cup team . He won three of his seven singles games while losing his two doubles. During this time he won the final of the world group with the team in the 1919 season . He played in doubles against France , but the game was lost. Great Britain won the game 3-2 and faced the Americans in the Davis Cup final . The game ended 1: 4, Turnbull was not used.
