Otto Friedrich Ferdinand von Görschen (born April 12, 1824 in Neuruppin , † June 8, 1875 in Eberswalde ) was a Prussian lieutenant colonel .

Career

He was the son of the Prussian lieutenant colonel August Friedrich von Görschen (1794–1866) and his wife Dorothea Caroline, née von Horn (1799–1873). She was a granddaughter of Lieutenant General Christian Siegmund von Horn .

Görschen joined the Prussian Army and initially went through an officer career in the 24th Infantry Regiment , in which his father had already served. Here he was promoted to captain in 1864 and appointed chief of the 6th Company. As such, he was significantly involved in the transition to Alsen and the assault on the Düppeler Schanzen during the war against Denmark in the same year . For his achievements, King Wilhelm I honored him with the Red Eagle Order IV Class with Swords, the Crown Order IV Class with Swords and the Knight's Cross of the Royal House Order of Hohenzollern with Swords. The allies honored him with the Mecklenburg Military Merit Cross II. Class and the Order of the Iron Crown III. Class with war decorations.

On January 16, 1866, Görschen was transferred to the 8th Brandenburg Infantry Regiment No. 64 . With this association he took part in the war against Austria in 1866 as chief of the 7th company in the battle of Königgrätz . With his promotion to the superfluous major , he was active in the regiment staff in 1868. As commander of the 2nd Battalion , he acquired both classes of the Iron Cross during the war against France in 1870/71 . With the approval of his resignation request, he was put up for disposal as a lieutenant colonel with the statutory pension in 1874 .

Otto Friedrich Ferdinand von Görschen was married to Emma Clara Helene Riedel (1845–1924), daughter of the archivist , historian and politician Adolph Friedrich Johann Riedel (1809–1872) and Anna Paulina Höfer (1816–1889). From this marriage there were three children. After Otto's untimely death, his widow, who incidentally was a gifted pianist and student of Franz Liszt , married Eduard Tempeltey (1832-1919) for the second time .
