The Pacora District is located in the Lambayeque Province in the Lambayeque Region in northwestern Peru . The district was founded on October 11, 1909. It has an area of ​​88.7 km². The 2017 census counted 8228 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 6,322, in 2007 it was 6,795. The district administration is located in the 53  m high small town Pacora with 3940 inhabitants (as of 2017). Pacora is located 31 km north-northeast of the provincial capital Lambayeque and 38 km north of the regional capital Chiclayo .

Geographical location

The Pacora district lies on the edge of the coastal lowlands in the south-east of the Lambayeque province. The river Río Motupe crosses the district in a south-southwest direction and flows into the Río de La Leche , which runs along the southern district boundary to the west. Irrigated agriculture is practiced in the district. The desert extends to the far west.

The Pacora district is bordered to the west by the district Olmos , on the north by the district Jayanca , on the east by the district Pitipo ( province Ferreñafe ), on the south by the district Illimo and on the southwest by the district Mórrope .
