The following people were bishops , archbishops and patriarchs of the Patriarchate of Aquileia :

Bishops of Aquileia

Archbishops of Aquileia

Patriarch of Aquileia

Candidianus returned to fellowship with the Roman Church. Opponents of ecclesiastical reunification elected a new patriarch, John I, who resided in the actual city of Aquileia. Therefore Candidianus and his successors are called the Patriarchs of Grado , although Paulinus I and his successors already resided there. Officially, however, they always continued the title of Patriarch of Aquileia , even after the end of the schism , until their title was combined with that of Bishop of Venice to become that of Patriarch of Venice .

The Patriarchs of Aquileia now listed (i.e. those who are also referred to as such) often later resided in other cities.

Under his tenure end of the schism. There are now officially two Patriarchs of Aquileia (this one and the one in Grado) in communion with the Pope for 750 years.

The patriarchate is divided between the archbishoprics of Udine and Gorizia . The title is merged with the Patriarchate of Venice .

Titular Archbishops of Aquileia

Aquileia has been assigned as a titular archbishopric since 1969 : see titular archbishopric Aquileia .
