The Patrich (also called Patrichberg ) is 599.6  m above sea level. NHN high, wooded mountain in the Franconian Alb low mountain range . With its south-western neighbor, the Viersteinberg , it rises near the core town of Treuchtlingen in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen ( Bavaria ). Until the municipal reform in Bavaria, the mountain was a municipality-free area .

The Patrich rises in the Altmühltal Nature Park . It is located directly northwest of the core city of Treuchtlingen. Wettelsheim is to the northwest , Kellerhaus to the north, to the northeast, beyond the Altmühl, Graben , and Gstadt to the east ; they are all districts of Treuchtlingen. In the south there are several new development areas in Treuchtlingen, including the Patrich settlement named after the mountain .

The Altmühl flows north to east past the Patrich in a south-south-east direction . The Nagelberg rises east of the Altmühltal . The Rohrach flows into the Altmühl at Bubenheim, a little north-northwest of the mountain . The Hahnenkamm ridge extends beyond the Rohrach .

The Patrich has a double peak : Its main summit in the north is 599.6  m high, its southern minor summit 590  m . A 570  m high saddle leads to the south-western neighbor, the Viersteinberg ( 600.2  m ) , which extends to the south-south-west .

The Treuchtlinger Stadtwald extends on the southern slopes .

Natural allocation

The Patrich belongs to the natural spatial main unit group Fränkische Alb (No. 08), in the main unit Southern Franconian Alb ( 082) and in the sub-unit Altmühlalb (082.2) to the natural area Obere Altmühlalb (082.22). The landscape drops to the north and east into the natural area Treuchtlinger Pforte (082.21). It leads to the northwest into the Altmühltrichter natural area (110.30) and to the west into the Hahnenkamm-Vorberge natural area (110.21), which in the main unit group Franconian Keuper-Lias-Land (11) and in the main unit foreland of the southern Franconian Jura (110) the subunits Weißenburger Bucht (110.3) and Hahnenkamm-Vorland (110.2) count.

Protected areas

Parts of the conservation zone in the Altmühltal Nature Park are located on the Patrich ( CDDA no. 396115; designated 1995; 1632.9606  km² ). Except for the transition area to the Viersteinberg, parts of the Fauna-Flora-Habitat- Area Trauf of the southern Franconian Jura extend (FFH-Nr. 6833-371; 43.2442 km²).

history

A burial mound from prehistoric times lies on the Patrich. The Badrich-Berg lettering can be found on historical maps .
