The Paul Hunter Classic 2007 (or the Paul Hunter Classics 2007) took place from August 23 to 26, 2007 in the town hall in Fürth . It is the largest Pro-Am snooker tournament in the world that is not about world ranking points. The winner was the Englishman Barry Pinches with a 4-0 final victory over the Irishman Ken Doherty . Michael Holt , the defending champion from 2006, was eliminated in the round of 16.

Tournament course

Round of 16

From the last sixteen onwards, only professionals played in the tournament. As a result, there were some surprises: Ian McCulloch was able to convincingly prevail 3-0 against title contender Shaun Murphy . Even Joe Swail proved its prowess by the vice world champion Mark Selby clearly with 3: 0 defeat. Defending champion Michael Holt also failed in the round of 16.

Quarter finals

In the quarter-finals, Ian McCulloch met the young Ryan Day . Again McCulloch could clearly win with 3-1. His opponent in the semifinals should be Irishman Ken Doherty . He was able to prevail against Joe Swail 3-2. Barry Pinches and Fergal O'Brien continued their winning streak : Both defeated their opponents Michael Judge and Jamie Cope 3-0 each.

Semifinals

In the first semi-final, Barry Pinches beat Fergal O'Brien 3-2. Pinches also played a century break of 130 points and was the first to reach the final. In the second semi-final McCulloch against Doherty was also played over the full distance. The fifth frame was only decided when McCulloch missed the colors "green" in the game.

final

An incident occurred in the final: After Barry Pinches had already won two frames against Doherty and was again on a break, a viewer suffered an epileptic seizure. The final had to be interrupted for about 30 minutes. However, Pinches was able to continue his break. After all, he was able to win the final with a clear 4-0.

After the final, Patrick Einsle was named the best non-professional. Mark Davis also received an award for the highest break with 145 points.
