The district is located in the west of the province. It borders in the south on the Keis Artova , in the west and north on the Turhal district and in the east on the central district. The district town is connected by a country road to the west with Zile and to the north with the trunk road D180 from Turhal to Tokat. The Yeşilırmak flows through the north of the district , into which the Kastavur Deresi flows in the west from the south . Lake Kaz Gölü is also to the west .

district

The district of Pazar was created in 1987 by splitting off the southern part of the district of Turhal. Until then, Pazar was a Bucak in this district and had a population of 20,206 inhabitants in the last census before the change of area (1985). At that time this corresponded to a population share of 16.85% (Turhal district: 119,902 inhabitants).

At the end of 2018, the Pazar district consisted of the district town (33.67% of the district's population) and another municipality (Belediye): Üzümören (4,408 inhabitants - Mayor: İsmail Karakaş, AKP). The district also included 16 villages ( Köy ) with an average of 319 residents. Bağlarbaşı (1,167) and Dereköy (1,011 inh.) Were the largest villages, five villages had more than 319 inhabitants (= average).

With 76.3 inhabitants per km², the district had the fourth highest population density , the density of the province was 61.0. The urban population was 64.42 percent.

Honorary citizen

As a result of the resolution passed by the German Bundestag on June 2, 2016 to condemn the genocide of the Armenians , Bundestag member Cem Özdemir was stripped of his honorary citizenship of the city. Özdemir had previously campaigned for Germany to recognize the genocide and stated that he had no knowledge of this honorary citizenship.

In the same context, the CDU MP Bettina Kudla , the only one who voted against the resolution, was made an honorary citizen of Pazar.
