Career
Philippe Sauvé is the son of former NHL goalkeeper Bob Sauvé and began his career in the QMJHL with Rimouski Océanic . During the NHL Entry Draft in 1998 he was selected by the Colorado Avalanche in the second round in 38th place, but played until 2003 exclusively for their farm team, the Hershey Bears , in the American Hockey League . In the 2003/04 NHL season , he finally made the jump into the NHL roster of the Avalanche, and came as a back-up to 17 NHL games. In August 2005 he was given to the Calgary Flames . In January 2006 he was used in the game against his old team and fought a fist fight with David Aebischer .
A short time later, in February 2006, it was given to the Phoenix Coyotes together with Steven Reinprecht in exchange for Brian Boucher and Mike Leclerc . In November 2006 he moved to the Boston Bruins , who used him in two NHL games. Otherwise, he was with the Providence Bruins , the farm team of the Boston Bruins in the AHL, to use. At the end of the 2006/07 season Sauvé was loaned by the Bruins to the Hamilton Bulldogs , who in return sent Aaron Downey to Providence .
In the summer of 2007, the Iowa Stars from the AHL signed him before he switched to the Hamburg Freezers in January 2008 to replace the injured Jean-Marc Pelletier . After the end of the 2007/08 season, he ended his career.
