Pippelsdorf is a district of Probstzella in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia .

geography

The hamlet with 72 inhabitants is located in the valley of the Gölitzbach. Its district owns 260.13 hectares. The forest village is located at the extreme western end of the area of ​​the municipality of Probstzella. The district road 178 connects the place with traffic via Marktgölitz and Königsthal .

history

The first documentary mention of the place took place on June 29, 1414, but the municipality assumes from 1394. Pippelsdorf was first called Luppoldsdorf. In 1414 the place belonged to Graefenthal . In 1438 the village was given away to Conrad von Pappenheim . Then the von Lengefeld family owned 17 residents until 1765. In 1852 there were 57 and in 1925 107 inhabitants of the place. After 1945, the population rose to 124 because resettlers came to the place. From 1958 Pippelsdorf and Königsthal formed a municipality that was incorporated into Marktgölitz in 1994 . Since 2004 the place belongs to Probstzella.

In the last centuries there was not only agriculture but also iron mining and related iron and steel works. The forest also became a livelihood.
