Roda is a district of Probstzella in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia .

location

On the eastern edge of the Steinerne Heide , the small town of Roda is located on a small forest-free ridge between Sormitz in the east and Kiesbachtal in the west. Roda is located 550 meters above sea level about two kilometers south of Leutenberg .

history

Roda was first mentioned in a document on February 6, 1337 as "Sybotenrode". In the Middle Ages this settlement was a Vorwerk, which was dissolved in 1786. In 1858 the village belonged to the district of Leutenberg in the sovereignty of the Principality of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt . There were eight houses and 67 residents as well as a parish hall and a school. Slate mining was also a source of income.
