Gabe Gottes is a hamlet of Probstzella in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia .
geography
The hamlet Gabe Gottes is located about two kilometers south of Marktgölitz in the Loquitz valley directly on the federal highway 85 . The Saalfeld – Probstzella railway line also runs through the valley with a Marktgölitz train station , which was built in the area of Gabe Gottes .
history
The place Gabe Gottes goes back to the foundation of the blue paint factory in 1668. The name Gabe Gottes originated from a legend. In the mines of Marktgölitz no iron stone was ever found. After a long time a miner found a large chunk of iron stone. He said: It's a gift from God . Therefore the name. From 1761 to 1769 the blue paint mill was converted into an iron mill called the Gift of God . Since then, this name has also been adopted by the settlement.
In 1898 the Grosser brothers acquired all of the roofing slate mining facilities. These included a brewery, all slate quarries and also an agricultural farm, which in the 1952 LPG friendship has been handed over. The roofing slate mining came to the Unterloquitz slate pits after 1945.
