Unterloquitz is a district of Probstzella in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia .

The place is on the Loquitz , the town center is at the end of a side valley. 227 people live in the village, which covers an area of ​​580.69 hectares and has several slate pits .

history

The oldest place in this area was first mentioned in a document in December 1074. The name of the place is of Slavic origin and means lower meadow stream , cf. also Lanke (toponym) . In 1326 the area belonged to the county of Orlamünde -Leutenberg. In 1499 it was sold to the Benedictine Abbey of Saalfeld . The cemetery with church that was established at that time stands on a terrace. After the place had reverted to the Schwarzburger, it belonged to the Leutenberg area of ​​the sovereignty of the principality Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt until 1918 .

In 1858 there were nine full-time farmers, eight half-farmers , four Hintersättler and seven small-house owners who did some farming. There were also six craftsmen, 15 day laborers and 19 servants. Wine was once grown on the southern slope of the Vitusberg.

On July 1, 1950, the previously independent municipality of Arnsbach was incorporated.

In 1994 Unterloquitz was incorporated into Probstzella.
