Schlaga is a hamlet of Probstzella in the Saalfeld-Rudolstadt district in Thuringia .

geography

Not far from the road from Großgeschwenda to Schweinbach lies the Steinerne Heide at an altitude of 550  m above sea level. NN . The hamlet is located in a small basin of the Tafelbach .

history

The hamlet was first mentioned on June 29, 1414. The name Schlaga is derived from logging. In 1426, until the Reformation , the hamlet belonged to the Wettin rule and to the interest villages of the Saalfeld Benedictine abbey , then to the Graefenthal district . Agriculture and animal husbandry were practiced more intensively on the better soils.

Culture and sights

In the village there is a small Romanesque hall church with a retracted choir from the middle of the 12th century. After being destroyed in the Thirty Years War , it was restored in 1650. Various changes were made in 1785: the nave was raised , a roof tower was built over the choir and the interior was made Baroque . There is a beamed ceiling and single-storey galleries . The pulpit altar is probably from the 17th century. On the north side of the arched triumphal arch is an altar shrine with figures of Peter, Saint Barbara and Saint Gangolf ( attributed to Hans Gottwalt von Lohr ).
