Planeta Rica is a municipality ( municipio ) in the department of Cordoba in Colombia .

Planeta Rica is located in the east of Cordoba , about 52 km from Montería . Planeta Rica is at an altitude of 87 m above sea level. NN and has an average temperature of 28 ° C. The municipality borders on Montería, San Carlos and Pueblo Nuevo to the north, Montelíbano to the south, Montería and Tierralta to the west and Buenavista and Pueblo Nuevo to the east .

history
Planeta Rica was founded in 1885 by settlers who were looking for raw materials such as quinine , natural rubber and broken root . After Cordoba was appointed department, Planeta Rica was given the status of a municipality in 1954.

The main industry of Planeta Rica is cattle production . In addition, agriculture , though mostly for self-sufficiency, mining , especially of nickel , and trade play an important role.
