Podgorci ( Macedonian Подгорци ; Albanian  Podgorca / Podgorcë ) is a village in the municipality of Struga in southwestern North Macedonia , around eleven kilometers from the municipality's capital Struga .

It borders on Labunishta in the north (the settlement area has grown together with this village), in the east on Tashmarunishta and Dobovjani , in the south-east on Veleshta and in the south on Vevchani .

The place has 2160 inhabitants (as of 2002) who lived in 495 households. That makes about four people per household, which is pretty average for Macedonian standards. The last census 14 years ago recorded the following figures: 573 people gave their identity as Albanians , 564 as Turks , 376 as Macedonians , 41 as Bosniaks and 599 as others.

In 1995 people reported Macedonian as their mother tongue , 89 Albanian , 22 Turkish and 53 other languages. The religions were as follows: 1,792 people professed Islam , 312 Orthodox Christianity and 56 stated other religions and worldviews.

This phenomenon of “boundless multiculturalism” can be found not only in Podgorci, but also in the neighboring villages of Labunishta , Oktisi and Boroec . In most cases, ethnic identity and mother tongue have no clear boundaries; many residents speak all three languages (Macedonian, Albanian and Turkish). Due to the common religion (Islam), more and more Torbesches have assimilated themselves as Albanians, Turks or Bosniaks in the last decades.

The Jablanica mountain range rises to the west , on which the Macedonian- Albanian border runs (approx. Seven kilometers as the crow flies). There is also the mountain lake Podgorečko Ezero at 1900  m , which is the most famous natural monument of the village. Podgorci itself lies between 860 and 980  m and is surrounded by deciduous forests in the west, south and partly in the east. The plains to the southeast are partially cultivated. The small village stream, which rises in the west, flows into the Black Drin after about three kilometers .

The economy in Podgorci is underdeveloped. Many are unemployed; the few work either in the agricultural or commercial sector, so the village has around 100 registered companies. The majority of the population, however, lives in the diaspora and earns their living as simple construction workers.
