Korošišta ( Macedonian Корошишта , Albanian  Koroshishti ) is a village in the southwest of North Macedonia . It is located near Lake Ohrid , about 10 km north of Struga and politically belongs to the Struga municipality .

population

The inhabitants are almost exclusively Muslim , Gegian Albanians . In the 2002 census, 1717 inhabitants were recorded, 1698 of them (98.89%) described themselves as Albanians.

economy

The population is engaged in agriculture, animal husbandry, viticulture and fruit growing. But there are also many commuters who work in Struga and Ohrid . They have their own shops and boutiques there. The majority, however, are unemployed, so that many have looked for work in Western Europe and the USA.

In 2007 a company was founded that manufactures water tanks that are heated with solar energy. The company is the first of its kind in the country.
