Boroec ( Macedonian Бороец ; Albanian  Borovec or Boroveci ) is a village in Opština Struga in southwest Macedonia . According to the 2002 census, it had 629 inhabitants, of whom 193 declared themselves to be Macedonians , 175 as Turks , 74 as Albanians and 187 as belonging to another ethnic group (mostly Torbeschen ). However, 620 of 629 gave Macedonian as their mother tongue (for more on this “phenomenon” see here ). 560 residents professed Islam , 63 Orthodox Christianity and another six other religions.

In the case of many Macedonian-speaking residents, it is also very often the case that they profess to be Albanians in terms of ethnicity, but have little or no command of Albanian.

Neighboring villages are Jablanica in the northwest , Tašmaruništa in the southeast and Labuništa in the south . The Black Drin flows around one kilometer to the east at around 690  m , whereas Boroec at the eastern foot of the Jablanica Mountains is between 900  m and 960  m above sea level.

The place can be reached via a winding, four-kilometer road from Labuništa.
