History and management

The Poschalm is called zum Hof Posch , the Schiedhofalm is called the Gasthof Schiedhof , both in Sulzau .

Until about 1975 there was only a footpath from the Hopffeldboden ( ) to the Alm. It was only with the construction of a pull path that management became easier. The access to the Alm is now closed to private traffic. If necessary, a hut taxi drives from the Hopffeldboden to the Alm for guests.

Since 1983 the alp has been part of the national park area (buffer zone).

Glacier pots natural monument

Glacier pots

The Glacier Pots natural monument is located at the Poschalm on the Poschalm . It is located about 100 meters after the Alm in the valley on the left on Obersulzbachtalstraße, at 1540  m above sea level. A.

There are two glacier pots , one round, one oval-round in shape, their diameter is about 3 m and the depth 1.5 m. Compared to other Salzburg glacier mills, they are relatively flat, and in 1979 they were slightly damaged when the road was being built. The result are the potholes in the Wurm Age , as a tongue of Venedigergletschers ausschürfte the valley, and probably one Gletschermühle ended here.

On December 13, 1985, they were designated as a natural monument on an area of 0.0157 ha (150 m²) .

Poschalm natural forest

BW

To the west above the Poschalm is a very natural forest area. It stretches up the steep and craggy slope to the mountain shoulder, at 1550 to 1900 m. This is a subalpine silicate spruce forest of various ages, which in the higher elevations changes into a stone pine forest . Here can be found up to 36 meters high spruces with over 1 meter trunk diameter , and more than 350-year-old pine with 18 meters Height .

The area was declared a natural forest reserve ( no. No. ) In 1983 with an area of 12.8 ha . With the consent of the owner, the Austrian Federal Forests (ÖBF) , it was integrated into the core zone with the establishment of the Hohe Tauern National Park (since 1997 also European protected area , ESG AT3210001 / NP00001 ) on January 1, 1984 and incorporated into its management plan. As a natural forest reserve - which is a purely contractual nature conservation class - it is no longer managed today.

Hiking trails

The Kampriesenalm can be reached from Neukirchen or Wald (in about 3 hours) or from the Hopffeldboden car park (in 1½ hours). The path is part of the Salzburg- wide Arnoweg (Section 3 Keesberge , Section 21 Kürsinger Hut - Neukirchen a. Grv. ).

At the hut, the path to the Seebachsee starts , from which the path to the Foißkarsee branches off after a short ascent . The crossing between the two lakes over the Seebachscharte  ( 2385  m above sea level ) is not marked, nor are there ascents to the surrounding mountains.
