The President of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution , currently Thomas Haldenwang , heads the German Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV), the civil intelligence service of the federal government that is responsible for domestic matters .

As head of office, the president is responsible for the performance of the BfV's tasks, the protection of the free democratic basic order and counter-espionage . He is assigned to salary group B 9 of the Federal Salary Act and has two deputies, the vice-presidents.
