General

This area, which was called Tenagua in the time of the Old Canarians , was called the seventh kingdom of the island. The soil is fertile, as here in the east of the island the clouds often rain down through the northeast trade wind. Numerous sources emerged from them. There are laurel forests in the area , the remnants of the Tertiary . The most common agricultural product was grain. The community's economic development often depended on periods of poor harvests and famine, which led to people emigrating to Cuba and Venezuela . Nowadays the products of fruit, vegetables, wine and especially the banana meet the demands of the new markets. A smaller branch of the economy is tourism .
