Qaasim Illi

Abdel Azziz Qaasim Illi (* 1982 as Patric Jerome Illi in Schaffhausen ; resident in Bonstetten ) is a Swiss computer scientist who has converted to Islam and is a board member of the Association of Islamic Central Council Switzerland (IZRS).

Life

Illi was born in Schaffhausen. When he was twelve years old, his parents emigrated to the Philippines with the intention of running a hotel. Illi wanted to stay in Switzerland and spent his youth in a foster family. This belonged to a Puritan Christian free church. After attending secondary school, he completed an apprenticeship as a computer scientist. Illi founded "B + B Electronics" and until September 1999 was the organizer of techno parties under the Schaffhausen label "Hardbeat Rec. - The Trance / Techno Label". His last rave was the “Troja II” on the Sulzer site in Winterthur. He met his wife Nora Illi at a solidarity campaign for Palestine and married her in 2003 in Jordan. Illi studies history and Islamic studies at the University of Bern .

politics

Illi was a member of the Action for an Independent and Neutral Switzerland (AUNS) for four years . In 2002 he co-organized a rally in Schaffhausen against Switzerland's accession to the UN , in which the Young4FUN.ch organization also took part under Lukas Reimann . According to a report by Weltwoche, Illi hailed Palestinian suicide bombings on several occasions . He described 16 Israeli victims of a bus attack on his website as “ Zionist occupation bastards” who had been “killed”. Illi was convicted of anti-Semitic racial discrimination . He became known to the general public in 2002 through his visit to Hamas founder Sheikh Ahmad Yasin . Illi founded the organization "Pro PLO Switzerland" in Schaffhausen, their core consisted of six converted to Islam Swiss.

At a demonstration in Zurich, Illi caused an Israel flag to be burned . After the intervention of spectators, he described Switzerland as a " Zionist state infiltrated ". The Swiss federal prosecutor's office investigated the organization in 2003 because Illi is said to have prepared explosives offenses. The case against Illi for possession of explosives was closed in March 2004. The «Pro-PLO Switzerland» was officially dissolved at the end of 2004, but its website remained active and was now operated in Khartoum . In November 2016, the Swiss public prosecutor opened an investigation into jihadist propaganda against Illi and Nicolas Blancho . Illi and Blancho were acquitted on all counts on June 15 by the Swiss Federal Criminal Court.

Today Illi u. a. Abdel Azziz Qaasim and is a member of the board and, as “Head of Department for Public Relations and Information”, contact person and, according to the statutes, actuary of the radical Islamic association “Islamic Central Council Switzerland (IZRS)”.

Private

Qaasim Illi was married to Nora Illi , who died in March 2020 . They had six children together.
