Vegetative characteristics

Radermachera species are evergreen trees .

The opposite arranged leaves are divided into a petiole and a leaf blade. The leaf blade is one to three pinnate. The stalked leaflets are entire.

Generative characteristics

The terminal or lateral, paniculate inflorescences can be reduced to simple clusters in some species. The bracts and bracts are linear or foliage-like.

The hermaphrodite, zygomorphic flowers are zygomorphic and five-fold with a double flower envelope . The five sepals are fused bell-shaped with five calyx lobes or only incised five times. The five petals are fused together like a funnel, bell or plate, the corolla tube can be long or short. The coronet is slightly bilobed, the lobes are rounded and protruding. The flower base is circular and slightly fleshy. There is only one circle with five stamens , of which usually only four are fertile (rarely five), they occur in two different lengths, but can also be almost the same length, usually the fifth stamen is a staminodium . The upper permanent ovary is rotationally round and includes a plurality of seed plants , which are in two rows in each fruit chamber. The stylus does not protrude from the crown. The scar is tongue-shaped and bilobed.

The capsule fruit that pops up lengthways is bent twice, otherwise twisting and elongated and contains many seeds. The partition is dented and woody. The seeds are flattened and have translucent wings at both ends.
