Career

Before Randy Jones was signed on July 24, 2003 by the Philadelphia Flyers as a free agent , he played for the Cobourg Cougars in the Ontario Provincial Junior A Hockey League and Clarkson University in the National Collegiate Athletic Association .

He spent his first year with the Philadelphia Phantoms in the American Hockey League (AHL), for which he also played during the lockout in the 2004/05 NHL season. In the following year he switched frequently between the Flyers and the Phantoms and came to 28 appearances in the National Hockey League . In the 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons he played exclusively for the Flyers and came to 66 and 71 missions, respectively.

On July 2, 2008, the Flyers announced a contract extension with Jones by two years. Just a year later, on September 26, 2009, the Flyers announced that Jones had been placed on the waiver list to meet the salary cap . He then signed a contract on September 30 with the Adirondack Phantoms , the Flyers farm team, in the American Hockey League. A month later, the Flyers tried to get the defender back into the NHL roster. The Los Angeles Kings chose him from the waiver list. In August 2010, Jones signed a one-year contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning as a free agent .

On July 2, 2011, Jones agreed on a one-year contract with the Winnipeg Jets . This was followed by two seasons in the AHL, with the Oklahoma City Barons and the Portland Pirates , before he could not find a new employer at the end of the 2013/14 season and declared his career over at the age of 33.
