history

prehistory

The area was already settled in the La Tène period . Archaeological finds suggest this. The Upper Germanic-Raetian Limes ran west of the town . In the new development area north of Ravolzhausen there was a Roman watchtower (Wp 5/4 An der Kuhhohle ). It was first geophysically surveyed and excavated in 2004. A reconstruction on site is planned.

middle Ages

The oldest surviving mention, as Ranvocenhusen , can be found in a document from 1227. Later the place was also called Ranfoldeshusen . The Selbold monastery had property in Ravolzhausen. The church in the village was first mentioned in 1355. The current church building dates from 1862.

In the Middle Ages, Ravolzhausen belonged to the Langendiebach court and thus initially to the territory of Kurmainz . In 1426 Kurmainz pledged the court and with it Ravolzhausen to the Counts of Hanau . This pledge was redeemed in 1476 by the Counts of Isenburg . Since then, Ravolzhausen has belonged to their county as part of the Langendiebach court.

Modern times

The local brick factory was mentioned as early as 1688. As the Heinrich Böhmer GmbH roof tile factory , it had a siding to the Hanauer Kleinbahn from the end of the 19th century . Operations ceased in 1986.

When the Principality of Isenburg was mediatized in 1815 , its north of the Main - including Ravolzhausen - came to the Electorate of Hesse in 1816 (until 1821 Principality of Hanau, Langenselbold court ). There it was assigned to the Gelnhausen district with the administrative reform of 1821 , and from 1830 to the Hanau district. The Electorate of Hesse was on the losing side in the German War and was annexed by the Kingdom of Prussia . After the Second World War , Ravolzhausen became part of the newly formed federal state of Hesse . On the occasion of the regional reform in Hesse , Ravolzhausen and Rüdigheim merged on April 1, 1971 to form the municipality of Neuberg.
