The referendum in Lithuania 2003 on the question of Lithuania's accession to the European Union took place from May 10th to 11th, 2003.
Question
The question asked in the referendum was the following:
"Pritariu Lietuvos Respublikos narystei Europos Sąjungoje"
"I am voting for Lithuania to become a member of the European Union."
Result
With a large majority of 91.07 percent of the vote, voters were in favor of joining the European Union. Only 8.93 percent were against joining. The turnout was comparatively high at 63.37 percent. The required minimum voter turnout of 50 percent was achieved and the referendum was therefore valid.
