This list outlines the referenda (plebiscites, referendums on) that exist in the countries of Europe have been by 2009.

The following are not listed:

  • Referendums in Italy (since 1974), Switzerland and Liechtenstein, as people's legislation has a special status in these countries and referendums are far above average - for two of these countries see:
  • Referendums below the national level
  • Referendums in Turkey (see referendum in Turkey )
  • Referendums under non-democratic circumstances, for example in Austria in 1938 on the Anschluss or in 1971 on the new constitution in Bulgaria

In order to be able to find similar voting topics better through the sorting, the topics should be introduced with the following keywords: Europe, social politics, state institution, territory, constitution, economy and finance, independence.

The figures refer to the figures for the entire or larger electoral body, for example for France including the overseas territories.
