Rekowe ( German Rekowen , 1938 to 1945 Reckau ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the rural community Jedwabno (1938 to 1945 Gedwangen ) in the Szczycieński powiat ( Ortelsburg district ).
Geographical location
Rekowe is located on the east bank of the Rekowen Lake (1938 to 1945 Reckauer See , Polish: Jezioro Rekowe ) in the southern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , 29 kilometers northeast of the former district town of Neidenburg ( Nidzica in Polish ) and 15 kilometers southwest of today's district metropolis Szczytno ( German Ortelsburg ).
history
Rekowen was to 1945 a small forester that the state forest Grüneberg (Polish Leśne Dwór was assigned). The place formed a housing space within the rural community debris's oven (Polish Pidun ) in East Prussian circuit Neidenburg . In 1905 the small forest village had seven inhabitants. On June 3 - officially confirmed on July 16 - 1938, Rekowen was renamed "Reckau" for political and ideological reasons to defend against foreign-sounding place names.
As a result of the war, the village came to Poland in 1945 along with all of southern East Prussia and received the Polish form of the name "Rekowe". Today the forest settlement ( Osada leśna in Polish ) is a village within the rural community Jedwabno (1938 to 1945 Gedwangen ) in the powiat Szczycieński ( Ortelsburg district ), until 1998 the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then part of the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .
church
Until 1945 Rekowen resp. Reckau ecclesiastically oriented towards Jedwabno : to the Evangelical Church of Jedwabno in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and to the Roman Catholic Church there in the Diocese of Warmia . The reference to Jedwabno still exists today for Rekowe, whereby the place now belongs to the diocese of Masuria in the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland and to the current Archdiocese of Warmia .
traffic
Rekowe is on a side road that runs along the eastern shore of the lake and can be reached from Piduń ( Schuttschenofen ) , but also from Rekownica (Rekownitza , 1921-1945 Großwalde) . There is no connection to rail traffic .
