Nowy Las ( German Neuwald ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the rural community Jedwabno (1938 to 1945 Gedwangen ) in the Powiat Szczycieński ( Ortelsburg district ).
Geographical location
Nowy Las is located in the southern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , 22 kilometers northeast of the former district town of Neidenburg ( Nidzica in Polish ) and 24 kilometers southwest of today's district metropolis Szczytno ( Ortelsburg in German ).
history
Until 1945 Neuwald was a forestry that belonged to the Hartigswalde state forest . With its four inhabitants in 1905, the place was a residential area in the municipality of Omulefofen (Polish: Kot ) in the East Prussian district of Neidenburg .
Neuwald was transferred to Poland in 1945 as a result of the war, along with all of southern East Prussia . The place received the Polish name form "Nowy Las" and is today a place within the rural community Jedwabno (1938 to 1945 Gedwangen ) in the powiat Szczycieński ( Ortelsburg district ), until 1998 the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .
church
Neuwald was ecclesiastically connected with Jedwabno until 1945 , with the local Protestant church , which belonged to the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union , and with the local Roman Catholic Church in the diocese of Warmia . Even today there is a church connection from Nowy Las to Jedwabno, which is now part of the Masurian diocese of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland and today's Archdiocese of Warmia .
