Narty ( German  Narthen ) is a village in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . It belongs to the Gmina Jedwabno (1938 to 1945 Gedwangen ) in the Powiat Szczycieński ( Ortelsburg district ).

Geographical location

Narty is located on the south bank of the Narthsee ( Polish Jezioro Świętajno Narckie , also: Jezioro Narty ) in the southeastern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , 31 kilometers northeast of the former district town of Neidenburg (Polish Nidzica ) and 14 kilometers southwest of the current district metropolis Szczytno ( German  Ortisburg ).

history

Narthen was founded in 1571. The village with its three brickyards in 1874 in the District Jedwabno integrated, the - 1938 renamed "District Gedwangen" - to 1945 and the East Prussian district of Neidenburg belonged.

In 1910 there were 231 inhabitants registered in Narthen. Their number rose to 290 by 1933 and totaled 258 in 1939.

When all of southern East Prussia was surrendered to Poland in 1945 as a result of the war , Narthen was also affected. The village received the Polish form of the name "Narty" and today - as the seat of a Schulz Office (Polish Sołectwo ) - a town in the network of rural community Jedwabno (1938-1945 Gedwangen ) in Szczytno County (District Szczytno ) until 1998, the Olsztyn province , since the Warmia and Mazury belong. In 2011 Narty had 114 inhabitants.

Until 1945 Narthen was parish in the Evangelical Church of Jedwabno in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Roman Catholic Church of Jedwabno in the Diocese of Warmia . Even today Narty belongs to the Evangelical Church of Jedwabno , now located in the Masuria diocese of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland , and also to the Jedwabno Catholic Church, which is now part of the Archdiocese of Warmia .

Narty is located on the busy state road 58 , which leads from Olsztynek (Hohenstein) via Szczytno (Ortelsburg) and Pisz (Johannisburg) to Szczuczyn in the Masovian Voivodeship . There is no connection to rail traffic .
