Remmo clan

The Remmo-Clan (also Rammo-Clan ) is an Arab extended family with over 500 members, some of which are attributed to the clan crime . Authorities associate the criminal part of the family with crimes such as serious violent or physical harm , extortion , robbery , drug dealing, receiving stolen goods , theft , illegal possession of weapons and murder . Because of the spread of the name in the Arab culture , it cannot automatically be concluded that the name bearers belong to a clan.

origin

The extended Remmo family, which belongs to the Mhallami ethnic group , originally comes from the Mardin province in the southeast of today's Turkey ( southeastern Anatolia ; then the Ottoman Empire ), near the border with Syria . From there, the Remmos emigrated - many of them were expelled after the end of the First World War - initially to Lebanon , where they were only tolerated as stateless persons and lived on the lowest fringes of society. During the Lebanese civil war, parts of the family finally migrated to Germany in the 1980s .

High profile crimes

Murder in 1992

Two family members shot a restaurateur from the former Yugoslavia in Schöneberg in 1992 . They seriously injured another man. Officials searched the home and found heroin and blank Lebanese birth certificates.

Fatal traffic accident with hit and run in 2008

Burglary in the Bode Museum

In October 2018, the youth chamber of the Berlin district court brought charges against three clan members for breaking into the Bode Museum . They are charged with stealing a 100 kilogram gold coin (“ Big Maple Leaf ”) worth 3.75 million euros on March 27, 2017 . The fourth perpetrator was an informant who had been used as a security guard for the security company operating there. The two Remmo brothers Wayci and Ahmed and their cousin Wissam are charged with various offenses, including theft, trespassing and fraud. During the ongoing trial in November 2019, the 22-year-old Wissam Remmo was sentenced to two years and six months imprisonment by the Erlangen District Court for stealing hydraulic scissors, such as those used by criminals for breaking into cash transporters or ATMs , condemned.

On February 20, 2020, Wissam and Ahmed Remmo were found guilty of theft of coins by the Berlin Regional Court and each sentenced to four and a half years in prison. The former security guard Denis W., who went to school with Ahmed Remmo and is friends with him, received a prison sentence of three years and four months. All penalties are not yet final. Traces of gold and gold shavings in apartments, vehicles and on the clothes of the perpetrators were important evidence . The court also ordered a total of 3.4 million euros to be confiscated from the convicts. Wayci Remmos was not involved in the crime; the court assumes at least two other perpetrators.

Raids and asset seizures 2018

On July 13, 2018, 40 police officers searched 77 properties in 13 locations in Berlin and Brandenburg. Were seized provisionally mortgage bonds and land worth over 9.3 million euros, including a 6 km² garden allotment, including the members of the Remmo family.

Business relationships with rappers

The clan has business relationships with rappers. Family member Ashraf Remmo was the manager of the rap artist Massiv for a long time . In August 2018 he was also considered a business partner of Bushido , who left the Abou Chaker clan , who had previously supported him, in a dispute. A firearms attack on the snack bar of the head of the Abou Chaker clan has been linked by observers to the dispute.
