René Meusel

René Meusel (born April 11, 1982 in Sonneberg ) is a German choreographer , director and dancer .

Life

Meusel started dancing as a child. He performed his own shows at city festivals at the age of 10. When he was awarded the title of "Hessian Freestyle Champion 1998" in Kassel at the age of 16, he decided to continue on the stage.

René Meusel began his training as a musical performer at the Hamburg Stage School of Music, Dance and Drama in 1999. In 2000, pop singer Marianne Rosenberg hired him as a dancer for television and stage appearances. 2001 Meusel was a choreographer for the television appearance by ATC for their hit Around the World (La La La La La) in the RTL telecast Bravo Supershow involved. In the same year he danced for the singer Isabel Soares and appeared with her in the opening act for the singer Blümchen in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

The producer Dieter Bohlen and the American choreographer Marvin A. Smith hired René Meusel for the debut appearance of Blümchen's successor Millane Fernandez . He danced by your side during the preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2001. This was followed by live and television appearances for Millane Fernandez, u. a. in the music program The Dome by RTL II and the BBC chart show Top of the Pops . In 2002 René Meusel went on a European tour as a dancer, dance captain and choreographer for the Berlin show production "Dancing Feet".

In 2003 Meusel first appeared as a singer and signed a record deal with Wea . Together with Ekaterina and Julia Kozhanova, he released the single "Relight my Fire", a dance remake of Dan Hartman's smash hit from 1979, as pop act PYT (Pretty Young Things). The remake was by RTL and presenter Hape Kerkeling selected as the theme song for the program Die 70er Show . In April Meusel and PYT presented the song live on the RTL kick-off program. Appearances followed, including on television on KIKA , NBC Giga or at Christopher Street Day in Cologne. In 2004 René Meusel founded his Flava Dance Company. The 11-person dance group performed live, among other things, twice on the program ZDF-Fernsehgarten .

Together with the experience restaurateur and producer Hans-Peter Wodarz and the director Arthur Castro, he initiated the show production “Belle et Fou - The game with lust” in the Spielbank Berlin in 2006 , which combined upscale gastronomy and erotic theater. In 2008 René Meusel choreographed and danced for the singer Patric Q. In 2009 he choreographed her debut single Hinterm 'Ozean for Carolin Fortenbacher . In the same year Meusel choreographed the popstars girl group Queensberry .

In 2014 Meusel choreographed the dance show "Romance & Dance" with Fernanda Brandão for the shipping company TUI Cruises , which was performed on the cruise ship Mein Schiff 3 . He choreographed another show for Mein Schiff 4 , the science fiction production “Das Lied der Gezeiten” with music he composed himself and played by the Babelsberg German Film Orchestra . A 10-minute excerpt from the show was performed at the christening ceremony of Mein Schiff 4 on June 5 in Kiel and broadcast live on NDR . On September 9th, TUI Cruises was awarded the German Cruise Prize 2016 for the best entertainment program. The award ceremony took place at the “Cruise Europe Night” as part of Seatrade Europe.

In April 2016 Meusel made his debut as a director and staged the show "Havanna - Cuba libre" for Roncalli's Apollo Varieté in Düsseldorf. Circus Roncalli founder Bernhard Paul was responsible for the artistic direction. The 90-minute revue premiered on April 21, 2016.

In 2018 Meusel celebrated his debut as an author: he wrote the musical Roncalli, based on an idea by Bernhard Paul - based on a true story , which for the first time tells the story of Circus Roncalli and its founder Bernhard Paul in stage form. The stage play premiered in March 2019 on Mein Schiff 2 - a cruise ship from Tui Cruises. Meusel was also responsible for the direction.
