Run for a million ... if you can! is a game show at ProSieben that has been broadcast since September 10, 2019. Runners and pursuers compete against each other in a course. Daniel Aminati and Rebecca Mir will moderate . Elmar Paulke comments on the runs. The venue will be the Henrichshütte , a former steel works in Hattingen . The show is produced by Warner Bros. ITVP Germany . The model is the show Million Dollar Mile, produced in the United States by Fly on the Wall Entertainment .
Course of the show and rules
The competition combines an obstacle course with a chase. A runner has to run through a course as quickly as possible and overcome several obstacles. Before the start, the runner has to put together five hurdles in any order according to his strengths, whereby the sixth hurdle is the same for all participants. Exactly two minutes after the runner a pursuer starts trying to catch the runner. Instead of a single runner, a team can also compete as in a relay race , whereby the profit decreases depending on the number of team members.
After each successfully completed hurdle, the runners have to decide whether to stop and secure the profit they have made up to that point. If you want to stop, press a buzzer in the so-called Stahl-Allee. Then they still have to complete the so-called exit challenge by climbing up a 43 meter high rope at the blast furnace, supported by a counterweight equal to their own body weight. If runners do not press the buzzer, they must complete the next obstacle. This puts them at risk because they lose the entire winnings if they are caught by a chaser. There is an exception for the individual runners: From the third hurdle, the € 50,000 for the respective runner is secured and this would fall back on this win in the event that he is caught later. Whoever manages their five hurdles is faced with a final hurdle that has to be overcome for the main prize of one million euros.
obstacles
Each runner or team of runners has to choose from six hurdles, five obstacles to be overcome. The order can be set arbitrarily before the start. In addition, there is the exit hurdle to secure the amount of money earned up to then and the final hurdle.
- Rolling mill: rotating rollers and balance beam
- Steel jungle: flexible, vertical bars
- Steel drill: platforms arranged in a spiral up to a height of 15 meters
- Boiling pools: 20-meter swimming pool and a climbing wall with an overhang
- Masonry: a labyrinth of walls with step boards of different widths
- Headframe: climbing tower with horizontal rungs
- Exit challenge: 43 meter long rope on the blast furnace
- Final obstacle
Profit levels
The potential profit for a single runner ranges up to the million euros specified in the program title. When teams compete, the winnings are divided by the number of participants, i.e. halved if there are two runners, etc.

criticism
After the first issue, Thomas Lückerath wrote on DWDL.de that the show was “the most sensible attempt by ProSieben to get a foot in the door of the physical game shows genre”. However, the "compared [to other shows] the setting [...] which is really much more spectacular [...] is not staged well enough". The reviewer also criticized "the completely over-the-top cheering" by Aminati and details such as the lack of overlays.
Fabian Neveling praised the scenery, the recordings of the camera drones and "the overview during the show". He also criticizes the moderator's "penetrating motivation boosts" and above all misses the tension: "Despite the considerable obstacles and the associated sporting activities of the actors, the last spark that leads to cheering is missing."
