Ribono (also: Ribona ) is an inhabited island that belongs to the Abaiang Atoll in the Gilbert Islands in the Republic of Kiribati .

geography

Ribono is a motu on the northern tip of the reef crest. About 270 inhabitants live on it. There is a church Ribono Church and a community center (Maneaba). At the north end of the teardrop-shaped island are the traditional fish traps of the inhabitants.

There are several nameless, tiny motu nearby. The next well-known island in the southeast is Taete , in the other direction to the southwest is Nanikirata .
