Ricardo Pedro Chaves Pinto Filho OPraem (born August 6, 1938 in Capelinha ; † April 1, 2018 in Pouso Alegre ) was a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Pouso Alegre .

Life

Ricardo Pedro Chaves Pinto Filho joined the order of the Premonstratensian and received the religious name Ricardo . He attended the Provincial Seminary of the Sacred Heart (Diamantina) and the Apostolic School of São Noberto (Montes Claros). He was ordained a priest on June 29, 1967 . He was active in the pastoral care in Bocaiuva north of Minas, later superior of the Premonstratensian Order of Minas Gerais. In 1983 he completed a degree in moral theology at the Pontifical Alfonsian Academy in Rome. In 1986 he also became vicar in the parish of São Gonçalo in Contagem (MG).

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Leopoldina on March 14, 1990 . The Archbishop of Belo Horizonte , Serafím Fernandes de Araújo , ordained him episcopal on April 21 of the same year . Co- consecrators were Geraldo Majela de Castro OPraem, Bishop of Montes Claros , and Paulo Antonino Mascarenhas Roxo OPraem, Bishop of Mogi das Cruzes . As a motto he chose CARITAS CHRISTI URGET .

On October 16, 1996, he was named Archbishop of Pouso Alegre . Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on May 28, 2014.
