Richard "Rich" Brennan (born November 26, 1972 in Schenectady , New York ) is a former American ice hockey player who worked for the Colorado Avalanche , San Jose Sharks , New York Rangers , Los Angeles Kings , Nashville, among others Predators and Boston Bruins played in the National Hockey League .
Career
Brennan began his career in 1991 at Boston University where he played for the local ice hockey team. During the 1991 NHL Entry Draft , those in charge of the Québec Nordiques secured the rights to Brennan when they selected him in the third round in a total of 46th position. He then stayed in Boston until 1995. The Nordiques had since moved and played as the Colorado Avalanche in Denver. They brought him in 1995 to their then farm team , the Cornwall Aces in the American Hockey League . A year after they moved, Colorado also changed its farm team and so Rich found himself with the Hershey Bears . He was allowed to play in the NHL twice this season .
After the season he was given to the San Jose Sharks , but even here he was mainly in the AHL for the Kentucky Thoroughblades in use. He played eleven games for San Jose and was able to score his first goal in the NHL. At the end of the 1997/98 season , however, he was released again. His new NHL team were the New York Rangers , but for the time being he was only used in the farm team at the Hartford Wolf Pack . Only during the 1998/99 season , two-thirds of which he spent in Hartford, he came to Rangers for 24 missions, in which he scored his second and last NHL goal.
The Nashville Predators should have been his next target, but before the season started, his rights went to the Los Angeles Kings . For two years he played almost only for the Lowell Lock Monsters in the AHL and got only two appearances in the NHL in the 2000/01 season . In the 2001/02 season he went on the ice four times for the Nashville Predators. His teams that season were the Manchester Monarchs and the Milwaukee Admirals .
The next stop was the Boston Bruins , for whom he was allowed to play seven times. Here, too, he spent most of his time on the farm team with the Providence Bruins . In the second year he was no longer able to assert himself in the NHL. The NHL went on strike the following year and Rich Brennan forced a move to Europe. In Switzerland he played a game for SC Langenthal and was on the ice 28 times for SC Bern before coming to Germany during the season. In the 2004/05 season Brennan then moved to the German Ice Hockey League , where he was first under contract with the Augsburg Panthers . In the summer of 2005, the defender then moved to the Nürnberg Ice Tigers . The defender played a total of 152 games for Nuremberg and scored 92 points. Brennan was one of the defensive players with the highest points on his team. At the end of the 2007/08 season , his contract was not extended. In the following season, the American was active in Austria for HC Innsbruck before he ended his career after this season.
