Richard Morris Gilliland (born January 23, 1950 in Fort Worth , Texas ) is an American actor .
life and career
Richard Gilliland is from Fort Worth, Texas and has been an actor since 1974. He played his first role in the television movie Unwed Father . From 1976 to 1977 he could be seen as Sgt. Steve DiMaggio in the series McMillan & Wife . That year he also took on the role of Lt. Nick Holden in the series Company Petticoat , based on the 1959 film Company Petticoat . In 1989 he appeared again as Tom Stafford in Heartland . He previously played the role of JD Shackleford in Man Doesn't Have to Be .
