Richard Scott Harmon (born August 18, 1991 in Mississauga , Canada ) is a Canadian actor .

life and career

Harmon was born in the Canadian state of Ontario . His parents are director Allan Harmon and producer Cynde Harmon; the actress Jessica Harmon is his sister.

He made his actor debut at the age of 12 in the 2003 television series Jeremiah . His interest in acting came through his sister, who was already an actress. In several television series, Harmon was cast in the role of the youthful “know-it-all” (“smart ass”). In the US television series The Killing he had a supporting role as Jasper Ames from 2011 to 2012. He was best known for his role as Julian Randolph in the Canadian television series Continuum ; From 2012 to 2015 he played the half-brother of the main character Alec Sadler. Again, he embodied a character who resolves conflicts with his mind, and not with violence. Since 2014 he has played as John Murphy in the US television series The 100 . Harmon initially had a recurring supporting role; since the 3rd season (2015) he has been part of the main cast. He plays a juvenile delinquent who is sent to earth, which has been abandoned after a nuclear war , to find out if the earth is habitable again.

In 2013 Harmon played the male lead in the Canadian independent film If I Had Wings . He embodied a blind athlete and runner; his portrayal received critical acclaim.

As a performer in the television series RL Stine's The Haunting Hour - Nightmare Inn , he received the 2011 Leo Award in the category Best Performance in a Youth or Children's Program or Series .

Harmon is a fan of American football , particularly the Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football team. He is also a fan of the animated series SpongeBob SquarePants , loves the music of Bob Dylan and The Rolling Stones, and actively supports the LGBT movement.
