Richard Edmund Graf von Kalckreuth (born February 4, 1808 in Schmiegel , † November 9, 1879 in Puschkeiten ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

Richard was the son of the Prussian major general Ludwig von Kalckreuth (1771–1847) and his wife Johanna Charlotte Hedwig, née von Unruh (1772–1855).

Military career

Kalckreuth visited the cadet house in Berlin and on April 21, 1825 was transferred as a second lieutenant to the 2nd Guard Landwehr Cavalry Regiment of the Prussian Army . From November 1840 he was commanded as adjutant of the 2nd Guards Cavalry Brigade and was aggregated to the regiment on February 22, 1841 while remaining in this position with his promotion to the regiment's prime lieutenant . Kalckreuth resigned on June 20, 1842 and joined the officers of the 1st Battalion in the 2nd Guards Landwehr Regiment on leave. He went into court service and became chamberlain to Princess Marie , wife of Prince Carl of Prussia .

On August 13, 1845, Kalckreuth returned to active service. At first he was a deputy squadron leader in the 1st Battalion in the 20th Landwehr Regiment and on May 19, 1846, he was promoted to Rittmeister . Left in his relationship, he was aggregated on July 27, 1847 to the 3rd Uhlan Regiment and then on July 29, 1852 to the 6th Uhlan Regiment . With the appointment as squadron chief , Kalckreuth was assigned to this regiment in mid-January 1853. He rose to major in June 1853 and worked from September 15, 1855 to May 13, 1857 as a regular staff officer in the 8th Uhlan Regiment . Then the commander of the 1st Dragoons appointed, he was in May 1858 Lieutenant Colonel and in July 1860. Colonel promoted. In position à la suite of his regiment, he was appointed commander of the 12th Cavalry Brigade in Neisse on September 16, 1862 . As major general, Kalckreuth led his brigade in 1866 during the war against Austria in the battle of Königgrätz and was awarded the Order of the Crown, Second Class with Swords , for his conduct after the peace treaty . In approval of his leave request , he was on 13 December 1866 award of the character as a Lieutenant General with the statutory board for disposition made.

After his departure, Kalckreuth lived with the permission of King Wilhelm I at Schönfeld Palace until his death . He was a legal knight of the Order of St. John .

family

Kalckreuth married Valeska von Freysleben (1825-1893) on November 8, 1845 in Berlin. She was a daughter of the Prussian major general Friedrich von Freysleben . The son Albin Ludwig Karl Richard (* 1849), Major a. D. emerge.
