Rick Hoffman (born June 12, 1970 in New York City , New York ) is an American actor who is best known for his leading role as Louis Litt in the lawyer series Suits . He has been an actor since the mid-1990s and has appeared in more than sixty productions.

Life

Rick Hoffman was born in New York to Charlie and Gail Hoffman and grew up in Roslyn Heights on Long Island , New York . He attended The Wheatley School and studied acting at the John Strasberg School of Acting and the University of Arizona . After graduating, he moved to Los Angeles for his acting career for some time and worked there as a waiter until he got his first leading role as Freddie Sacker in the television series The Street in 2000 after a few supporting roles . This was followed by leading roles in the ABC television series Philly and Jake in Progress , other supporting roles and a few recurring guest roles. The biggest guest roles of these were ten episodes on the sitcom Bernie Mac Show as Jerry Best from 2002 to 2005 and in nine episodes of the television series Samantha Who? From 2007 to 2009 . as Samantha's former boss. In 2010, Hoffman received a starring role as Louis Litt in the Suits law series . The ninth and final season of the series, which was filmed in Toronto , is now being broadcast. In addition to his work in television series, Hoffman also played supporting roles in a number of films, such as The Day After Tomorrow and Hostel .
