Rigmor Gustafsson grew up in Värmland in southern Sweden . She started playing the guitar at the age of nine. Her interest in singing and her passion for jazz is aroused already in her youth . She completed her studies from 1986 to 1992 at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm as a master in jazz singing. Her debut album In The Light Of Day , released in the same year, as well as the album Plan # 46 , which was released two years later, have been touring several European countries such as B. Germany and Switzerland quite successful. In 1999 Rigmor Gustafsson formed a new quintet from Swedish musicians and recorded a live album with them at the Mosebacke jazz club in Stockholm, which was released in 2000. In the following years Rigmor Gustafsson gave international concerts in Malaysia , South Africa and the USA. She tours Australia and Europe and performs at well-known festivals such as the JazzFest Berlin (2001) and Jazz Baltica (2002). In 2002 she switched to the German label ACT and was successful as a guest singer on the album Sentimental Journey by the Swedish jazz trombonist Nils Landgren . He is also a collaborator and producer of Rigmor Gustafsson's next album. I Will Wait For You together with Nils Landgren And The Flashquartet from 2003 wins a Jazz Award in Germany and receives a Grammy nomination. In 2004 Rigmor Gustafsson recorded the album Close To You , a homage to Dionne Warwick , with the pianist Jacky Terrasson , whom she met on the Jazznights concert tour through Germany and Canada in 2003, and his trio . The album, again produced by Nils Landgren, reached number 1 on the Swedish jazz charts and was also nominated for a Grammy .
