The River Colne is a watercourse in England . It is being built in Hertfordshire west of Welham Green . It initially flows north, but turns in a south-westerly direction at Colney Heath . It flows through Watford and to the southwest of Rickmansworth it turns south. Its course initially forms the border between Hertfordshire and Greater London in parts and then in parts the border between Greater London and Buckinghamshire . It crosses the border with Surrey at the southwest corner of Heathrow Airport to the west of which it flows and flows into the Thames at Staines .
