Roßbach is a district of Witzenhausen in the Werra-Meißner district in North Hesse .
geography
Roßbach is located on the edge of the Kaufunger Forest in the transition area to the Kleinalmeröder hill country about 4.5 km (as the crow flies ) southwest of the core town of Witzenhausen on the Wilhelmshäuser Bach . Landesstraße 3389 ( Dohrenbach –Roßbach– Kleinalmerode ) runs through the village . The hamlet of Oberroßbach is located south of the village .
The district of Roßbach has a special feature. It is divided in two into an agriculturally used, community-bound part and an additional wooded, community-free part in the Kaufunger Wald estate with an area of 8.49 km², which extends to the ridge line from Mühlenstein ( 607.2 m ) to Bilstein ( 641.2 m ) and its Eastern foothills Large cap ( 572.5 m ) is enough.
history
The village was first mentioned in a document in 1245. The place belonged to the Hessian office Ludwigstein / Witzenhausen until 1821 and then to the district of Witzenhausen . During the French occupation, the place belonged to the canton of Witzenhausen in the Kingdom of Westphalia (1807-1813).
On 1 January 1974 Rossbach was in the course of administrative reform in Hesse force GLandesgesetz in the city Witzenhausen incorporated .
