location

County road 6 runs through the village. The small village is northeast of Wipfra . Roda lies on the left bank of the Wipfra .

history

Roda was first mentioned in a document in 1279. Until 1918 the place belonged to the sovereignty of the principality of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen . Since the old church was too small and dilapidated, a new church was built in the same place in 1861. The school dates back to 1869. It was used as such until 1935. There was already a water pipe in 1904 and an electricity network in 1925 . Since 2004 there has been a village community center in a converted cowshed. On February 24, 1944, 6 Rodaers were killed in the "air battle over Arnstadt and Gotha".
